Pre-shift safety briefing with a WCSS supervisor and site team

HSE & Quality

Safe hands, every shift, on every site.

Safety and quality are not a department at WCSS — they are how the work is planned, staffed and checked. Here is exactly how we hold the standard, and how you see it.

What we protect

Four things we refuse to compromise on.

They apply the same way in an offshore galley, a mining camp and a corporate headquarters — only the risks change.

Safety of people

Every shift starts with a briefing and ends with a check. Protective equipment, safe handling and hazard reporting are non-negotiable, and everyone on site is expected to stop work that looks unsafe.

Health and well-being

Fitness for duty, rest between rotations, clean accommodation and access to balanced meals. Looking after the people who deliver the service is what keeps the service steady.

Care for the environment

Waste separated and tracked, water and energy use monitored, chemicals stored and dosed correctly, and local sourcing that shortens the journey food takes to the plate.

Quality you can measure

Agreed standards, written procedures and a score against them every month. If a number moves the wrong way, you hear it from us before you notice it yourself.

Certified systems

Independently certified, and audited to keep it that way.

Certification is the floor, not the ceiling. The systems behind these standards run every day on every contract — documented, checked and open to your inspection.

How we control it

The everyday controls behind the certificates.

Six disciplines that run on every contract, whatever the service.

Food safety

Temperature logs at every stage, allergen separation, supplier approval, batch traceability and retained samples — the discipline behind ISO 22000.

Hygiene and cleaning

Colour-coded equipment, documented cleaning schedules, deep-clean cycles and swab testing in kitchens and high-traffic areas.

Inspection and audit

Supervisor checks daily, management inspection monthly, and independent audit annually. Findings are logged with an owner and a closing date.

Competence and training

Induction before the first shift, refresher training on a fixed cycle, and records that show who is certified to do what, on which site.

Permits and procedures

Risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work discipline for hot work, confined spaces, working at height and electrical tasks.

Learning from incidents

Near misses are reported without blame, reviewed within 24 hours, and turned into a procedure change everyone hears about.

Food safety

Nobody should have to wonder about the food.

From the supplier gate to the serving line, every step is checked by someone whose name is on the record.

  • Approved suppliers only, with documented vetting and re-checks
  • Cold chain monitored from delivery through storage to service
  • Allergen matrix maintained per dish and briefed to service staff
  • Retained samples and batch traceability for every main service
  • Pest control, water testing and waste handling on a fixed schedule
  • HACCP-based
  • Allergen Managed
  • Traceable
  • Audited

The assurance cycle

Set it, check it, report it, improve it.

The same four-step loop runs on every contract, so performance is never a matter of opinion.

  1. 01

    Set the standard

We agree what good looks like for your site in writing — hygiene, response times, presentation, environmental limits — before mobilisation.

  2. 02

    Check it daily

Supervisors run the same checks every shift and record them. Nothing depends on memory or goodwill.

  3. 03

    Report it monthly

You receive a score against the agreed standard, the open actions, and what has changed since last month.

  4. 04

    Improve it visibly

Actions are owned by named people with dates. Repeat findings escalate to management review until they stop repeating.

Questions

What clients ask us about safety and quality.

Want the full documentation pack — policies, certificates, sample audit report and training matrix? Ask us for it.

ISO 9001:2015 for quality management, ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management and ISO 22000 for food safety management. We work to the body and the spirit of all three.
Serious incidents are reported immediately. Everything else is logged the same day and reviewed within 24 hours, with the investigation outcome shared in the monthly report.
Yes. Client audits are welcome at any reasonable notice, and we will make records, training files and supplier approvals available on site.
Allergen information is held for every dish, preparation is physically separated, and named diets are prepared by trained staff and signed off before service.

HSE & Quality

Ask us to prove it before you award anything.

We will walk you through our systems, share the audit history and show you how your site would be scored from week one.
